About This Opportunity

The Data Analyst will play a crucial role in supporting SES by analysing university-wide data to identify trends and opportunities that enhance the student experience. This position will be responsible for developing comprehensive annual reports and providing insights that inform the day to day needs of various divisional areas.

Key responsibilities will include:

Strategic Data Analysis and Reporting

  • Partner with stakeholders to identify, develop, and analyse divisional service metrics. Use data from various sources to create insightful reports and presentations that identify trends and opportunities for improving service delivery.

Technical Expertise and Data Management

  • Apply specialized expertise in applications like SAP Business Objects, Power BI, Excel, and programming languages such as Python to collect, interpret, and analyse data. You will also support the development of new datasets and ensure data quality.

Process Optimisation and Stakeholder Support

  • Streamline data reporting, including the creation of live-updating dashboards, to meet the needs of Student Affairs and wider University stakeholders. You will also provide data-based solutions to business problems and support decision-making with data intelligence.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement

  • Maintain awareness of new technologies and software that could improve data collection, integration, presentation, and analysis within UQ to enhance the student experience.
About You

Essential

  • Bachelor's degree and subsequent experience in a relevant field.
  • Demonstrated ability to compile, manipulate, and analyse complex datasets. This includes a working knowledge of data transformation techniques such as aggregation and filtering, with the ability to leverage data to draw conclusions related to the student experience.
  • Proven ability to use programming languages like Python and familiarity with data tools such as SAP Business Objects, Power BI, and Excel (M and DAX) to apply data intelligence to a higher education context.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with a proven ability to produce clear and concise reports and briefing papers. You must be highly organised, self-managing, and capable of setting priorities to meet project timelines.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and a proven capacity to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders. You will need to effectively liaise, consult, and negotiate with staff at all levels to enhance student experience, retention, and employability.

Desirable

  • Experience in the use of the Business Objects

You must maintain unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment, and may be required to complete background checks including, criminal history and education checks. Employer sponsored work rights are not available for this appointment.
