Why You’ll Love This Role
You’ll lead the City’s statutory planning function, coordinating development assessments, compliance matters and strategic planning advice.
This is your opportunity to shape the built form of our community, ensuring decisions are lawful, timely and aligned with the City’s strategic goals. You’ll manage a team of planning professionals, mentor staff, and represent the City at Council, DAP, SAT and other key forums.
You’ll work closely with internal departments and external stakeholders to deliver high-quality planning outcomes and continuous improvement across the Development Services unit.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead statutory planning assessments and decision-making
- Coordinate agenda items and reports for Council and DAP
- Provide professional leadership and mentoring to planning staff
- Ensure compliance with statutory obligations and processes
- Represent the City at external forums including SAT and WAPC
- Oversee workflow, performance and operational planning
- Drive business process improvements and strategic alignment
- Support recruitment and development of planning officers.
- Maintain accurate records and reporting for planning functions
What You’ll Bring
We’re looking for a planning leader with:
- Tertiary qualifications in Urban and Regional Planning
- Strong knowledge of WA’s planning system and legislation
- Leadership and mentoring experience
- Excellent communication and decision-making skills
- Experience in statutory planning within local government
