About the role

We are looking for a hands-on Grower who is looking for an exciting full-time career at Ball Australia. The successful applicant would ideally have some growing knowledge; and skills that can be easily transferred to a production nursery. We would consider applicants who have no formal education or experience but who have a desire to learn from one of the leading horticultural companies in the industry.

This role will be in our newly built mother stock house, reporting to the Mother Stock Supervisor. In this area of the nursery, we have extensive hygiene protocols that must be strictly enforced. Only non-smokers can apply due to the risk of tobacco-borne viruses being transmitted. On the job training and mentoring will be provided.

Responsibilities of the role

· Crop irrigation management.

· Crop nutrition and specification monitoring.

· Pest and disease monitoring and management.

· Manage and deliver optimal plant nutritional requirements for mother stock plants.

· Be part of the weekend/out of hours watering/spraying roster.

· Apply chemical sprays and fertiliser when required.

· Handle product movement and organisation as necessary.

· Monitor and ensure the quality of the products meets standards.

Skills and experience

· Previous mother stock growing knowledge would be beneficial.

· Qualifications in horticulture, science or similar would be ideal.

· An interest in mother stock and cutting production is essential.

· Have sound analytical skills, can help solve problems and a positive attitude.

· Attention to detail.

· Someone who is highly self-motivated and works well in a team environment as well as individually.

· Champion safe working practices.

· Physically fit – increase your fitness levels and attain your steps every day.

· Comfortable working in warm weather conditions.

· A collaborator with all stakeholders.
