About the role

As a Leisure Planning & Strategy Officer, you will play a key role in shaping our community's leisure and recreational spaces. Your expertise will help drive the research, planning, and implementation of strategies that turn public areas into vibrant hubs that foster healthy lifestyles and community connections.

Reporting to the Coordinator Recreation, you will lead the development and execution of the City’s Community Infrastructure Strategy and Action Plan, ensuring the sustainability of public amenities and services.

A snapshot of your new role:

Research and analyse community needs to identify trends in leisure, recreation, and public spaces.

Develop actionable strategies that align with community expectations and improve recreational facilities and services.

Manage and coordinate sport, recreation, and public space projects.

Conduct feasibility studies, needs analysis, project reviews, and business planning.

Assist with budget planning for capital and operational projects.

Engage with residents and local groups to ensure community-driven project development.

How you will thrive in this role

A tertiary qualification or experience in sport, recreation, urban design, planning, or project management.

Strong analytical and conceptual skills, with experience interpreting research and policies to create strategic outcomes.

Excellent report writing, communication, and public speaking skills.

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders.

Proven ability to plan and implement sport, recreation, and public space projects.
