The City of Subiaco is going through a transformation with significant change and evolution in terms of residential options, the commercial sector, retail, entertainment, leisure and recreation. Navigating this change in partnership with the community, business and stakeholders, whilst also celebrating Subiaco's heritage, history and culture is an exciting challenge.

The successful candidate will provide technical support and advice on public open space management, as well as plan and manage park maintenance to ensure the highest horticultural standards.

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Assist the Coordinator to prepare, supervise and oversee technical maintenance programs for the City’s parks and reserves.
  • Contribute technical expertise to maintenance programs and forward work plans.
  • Regularly review, develop and update technical specifications, safety procedures and work practices to improve efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery.
  • Research and maintain the sections technical library information for the provision of best practice advice and information on horticultural maintenance and management.
  • Maintain asset records and audit information.
  • Assist the Coordinator in the provision of leadership, direction, guidance and support to the section.
  • Assist in the coordination and implementation of projects of the park’s capital improvements program as part of the management team as required.
  • Develop and review specifications for contracted works.
  • Organise quotes and tenders in accordance with budget management requirements.
  • Supervise, monitor and report on contracted works.
  • Any other duties as required.

Essential criteria:

  • A high level of organisational ability in planning, prioritising, budget management and achieving outcomes to deadlines.
  • Highly developed and proven interpersonal, communication and influencing skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish, develop and maintain new systems, strategies and procedures.
  • Supervisory ability that includes contracts and budget management.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Advanced ability to use corporate computer systems.
  • Relevant tertiary level qualifications in horticulture or environment management and/or relevant work experience.
  • Current C class WA drivers’ licence or higher.

Desirable:

  • Basic Traffic Management certification.
  • Senior First Aid.

Salary package:

From $97,864 to $107,640 per annum, exclusive of superannuation.
