About The Team

The University Secretary's Office is a central pillar backbone of Murdoch University's governance. Our team works collaboratively to ensure the University operates ethically, effectively and in line with legal and regulatory requirements. We provide expert advice, maintain sound governance structures, and support informed decision-making across the university community.

Your New Role!

In this role, you will manage the day-to-day operations of assigned committees and ad hoc working groups. You'll provide high-level advice to the Chair on meeting protocols, Terms of Reference and relevant policies and work closely with the Secretary to Academic Council to develop strategic workplans aligned with committee objectives.

Your responsibilities will include overseeing the preparation and distribution of agendas, minutes, and action items, and following up with stakeholders to ensure decisions are implemented. Your expertise in research and documentation will support committee deliberations and contribute to the development of insightful reports.

Your key responsibilities will include -

  • Provide high-level advice to the Chair on committee operations, Terms of Reference, and relevant procedures.
  • Develop and maintain a forward workplan to ensure timely inclusion of key matters on meeting agendas.
  • Coordinate the preparation and distribution of agendas, minutes, and action items.
  • Liaise with staff across the University to ensure follow-up and implementation of committee decisions.
  • Prepare high-quality documentation and reports to support informed decision-making.

This Continuous | Part time (33.75 hours per week) attracts a remuneration of $89K - $107K (pro rata) plus 17% employer superannuation contributions.

What you'll bring to the role:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification or extensive experience in high-level administration and secretariat support.
  • Strong skills in agenda preparation, meeting procedures and minute taking.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to produce professional documents.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and collaboration.
