Salary: $75,000 - &77,000 excluding super

About the role
We're seeking a qualified CAD/CAM programmer/designer/technician to assist with new product development for our next generation of campervans. The role focuses on the drawing and development of components and sub-assemblies such as cabinetry, water tanks, brackets and various fixtures. This role combines mechanical systems engineering support, CNC programming and operation, and design assistance to ensure efficient production of custom recreational vehicles. You will work closely with engineers to develop, test, and optimise mechanical systems, while also operating CNC equipment and supporting CAD design activities for vehicle modifications and custom components.
Skills and experience
Extensive experience designing and modelling using CAD.
Experience designing CAM specs and overall CAM programming.
Biesse CNC CAM software (B-Solid) knowledge is highly preferred.
Experience in OnShape and SolidWorks is highly regarded.
Read and implement design work from external teams.
Read and interpret high-level sketches and drawings from the production team.
High level of attention to detail and clean, structured designs.
Motivated, self-disciplined professional committed to continuous professional development and skill improvement.
Technically minded and able to work independently and with a team.
High-level understanding of BOM (Bill of Materials) development.
Experience with mechanical systems design, testing, and validation, including load testing and vibration analysis.
Knowledge of automotive/vehicle systems and auxiliary component integration (inverters, water pumps, levelling systems).
Proficiency in developing technical specifications for custom mechanical components and assemblies.
Knowledge of manufacturing processes, production planning, and supplier evaluation.
Experience with prototype development, fabrication coordination, and testing protocols.
Understanding of mechanical engineering principles including stress analysis, materials science, and mechanical design.
Experience with change management systems and technical documentation maintenance.
