Law Clerk / Paralegal – Criminal Law

About the Role

Bazzi Law is a criminal law firm based in Brisbane, seeking a dedicated and experienced Law Clerk/Paralegal to join our growing team. This is a full-time position offering exposure to serious and complex criminal matters in a fast-paced, courtroom-focused environment. You will work closely with our solicitors and principal, assisting in the preparation and management of criminal matters across various jurisdictions, including the Magistrates, District, and Supreme Courts.

Key Responsibilities

Preparing briefs for court, including compiling evidence, indexing, and reviewing materials

Assisting solicitors with case preparation for trials, sentences, bail applications, and committal hearings

Drafting legal documents and correspondence, including court forms, transcripts, and affidavits

Conducting legal research, including statute and case law analysis relevant to criminal proceedings

Attending court (with or without solicitors), taking notes, and supporting case logistics

Liaising with clients, counsel, police, prosecutors, court staff, and other stakeholders

Managing files, diary entries, and court dates, and ensuring deadlines are met

Providing general administrative support to the legal team

What We’re Looking For

Prior experience in criminal law is highly regarded

Legal or paralegal qualifications (or currently studying law with relevant experience)

Strong written and verbal communication skills – particularly for court and client-facing tasks

Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines

Confidence in managing multiple matters and competing priorities

Proficiency with legal practice management systems, Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat

A genuine interest in criminal law and the court process
