Opening in Cronulla in 2016 by three mates Daniel Sorridimi, Robert Lechowicz and Paul Pisani, Blackwood has quickly become a favourite meeting place for locals and a must-visit brunch destination for visitors from around Sydney.

Expanding to include a Bondi location in early 2022, blurring the lines between café, restaurant and bar, Blackwood now offers two distinct venues with the focus firmly on the essence of the way the owners love to dine: fun and vibrant, super sleek but comfortable design and the feeling that you’re welcome anytime.

Our venue serves an average of 300-500 people daily with a big focus on creativity & quality for every dish. Boasting a fully equipped kitchen, and an amazing established team.

Food style

Food is described as eclectic in style drawing inspiration from Mediterranean, Middle Eastern & Asian influences with strong roots in French techniques. This combined with using amazing fresh Australian produce makes it the perfect playground for a motivated and creative chef. All owners are big foodies and extremely passionate about food and all things hospitality.

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Sous Chef at Blackwood Cronulla in Sydney, NSW. The Sous Chef will oversee and assist the head chef in all kitchen operations, staffing & training, creating menus and dishes, maintaining targets & KPIS’s, manage food preparation, and ensure high-quality dishes are served to customers. Working with front of house management and marketing to grow the businesses reach through various platforms, as well as communicating with our other venues team.

Qualifications

Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar role

Excellent knowledge of culinary techniques and kitchen management

Strong leadership and communication skills

Ability to manage a team and work well under pressure

A composed personality that works easily with others.

Certification from a culinary school is a plus

Attention to detail and creativity in menu planning & dish creation

Someone who loves food and hospitality

Knowledge of food safety regulations
