Join a growth-focused company delivering leading solutions to Australia’s mining and industrial sectors. Our client is seeking a proactive and results-driven Business Development Manager (BDM) to manage a national portfolio of clients, drive revenue growth, and build strong commercial relationships across Australia.

About the Role

As a BDM, you will oversee the performance, engagement, and growth of a client portfolio. You'll work to expand the company's footprint through new business development, strategic account management, and by deploying there innovative products across multiple industries—especially within mining and mining services.

You will be responsible for:

Driving financial performance across a portfolio of existing customers.

Managing key accounts and identifying under- or over-performing clients with a view to improving or replicating outcomes.

Proactively deploying the company's new products to existing customers.

Developing new client relationships and achieving new business revenue targets.

Maintaining a structured call cycle, both face-to-face and remotely, to support ongoing relationship development.

Providing timely, accurate reporting using CRM and internal systems.

Participating in weekly meetings and keeping accurate data records on sales activity and client engagement.

Key Responsibilities

1. Account Management & Financial Oversight

Manage and report on portfolio performance.

Identify and act on growth opportunities within current clients.

Maintain accurate tracking of quotes and competitor activity.

2. Call Cycle & Customer Engagement

Execute a scheduled call cycle.

Pre-plan meetings and maintain visibility of your weekly schedule.

Respond quickly to client requests and maintain CRM task records.

3. New Business Development

Research and develop leads across multiple industries.

Onboard and manage new accounts through the first year of engagement.

Track new opportunities with detailed estimates and forecasting.

4. Reporting, Meetings & Time Management

Attend Sales and Portfolio Meetings, Huddles, and 1:1s with the Sales Manager.

Keep CRM, Outlook calendar, and email systems updated and well-organized.

Report accurately on wins, losses, trends, and projections.

What We’re Looking For (Selection Criteria)

To succeed in this role, you will need:

3+ years’ experience managing a major sales portfolio, with proven success in closing opportunities.

Strong knowledge of the Australian mining industry, including travel to mine sites and an understanding of purchasing processes.

Exceptional time management and self-discipline, with the ability to manage a call cycle and client workload independently.

Confident communication and negotiation skills, with experience in client development and relationship management.

Proven ability to manage complex tenders and quotes involving multiple stakeholders.

Experience interpreting and presenting sales data and managing performance to budget.

Strong CRM skills with an attention to data accuracy and detail.
