Health and Safety Specialists (Construction) - Multiple opportunities
Sugden & Gee is a dynamic project management and engineering consultancy based in Hobart, Tasmania with staff stateside. We specialise in providing project management across the full project lifecycle for civil and public infrastructure.
We are seeking qualified candidates to provide support for water and other civil projects. Candidates should ideally have at least 10 years' experience in helping to deliver construction projects with a focus on safety and quality either in a supervisor, safety or quality management role.
Potential roles include:
Construction supervisor (Safety & Quality focus)
Project Health and Safety Manager
Project Quality and Risk Manager
Successful candidates for the construction supervisor role will need to ensure that work undertaken by contractors are working in compliance with regulatory standards, company policies and project specifications. The role will include providing advice to project managers, identifying skill gaps and risks with proposed mitigations as a subject matter expert. The additional roles listed will involve audits of quality and risk or health and safety management system documentation, and updates to improve management of future projects.
Candidates should have the ability to read and understand drawings and specifications, management plans and contractor documents (SWMS, ITPs etc.) Skills in review of contractor performance and implementation of continuous improvement in a cooperative manner are valued. The positions require highly competent verbal and written communication skills to ensure understanding of all parties.
The roles are based in Hobart, Launceston or Devonport and would work primarily with public utilities in Tasmania.
The role requires occasional travel to project sites, so candidates must have a full drivers licence.

Qualifications
Current White Card (Construction Induction Card) and relevant OHS/WHS certification
Relevant construction industry experience including roles and responsibilities
Relevant experience working in local government and/or with public utilities
Availability to commence work in Hobart, Launceston or Devonport
Examples demonstrating ability to address key risks in consultation with contractors/clients and/or key stakeholders, and how that was achieved
