About the role

We are seeking an experienced Sous Chef to join our team at Sette Cafe in Eveleigh, NSW. As a full-time Sous Chef, you will play a key role in supporting the Head Chef in the day-to-day operations of our bustling cafe kitchen. This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and creative chef to grow their career in the hospitality industry.

What you'll be doing

Assist the Head Chef in managing the kitchen team and operations

Daily catering consisting of 300+ individual meals

Work closely with the Head Chef in the hot food section using equipment including Combi oven, griddle, pans, fryers and basic wok cooking

Prepare high-quality, creative dishes using fresh, seasonal ingredients

Ensure all food preparation, cooking and presentation meets our high standards

Maintain a clean, safe and organised kitchen environment

Train and mentor junior kitchen staff to develop their skills

Contribute to the development of new menu items and cooking techniques

Monitor stock levels and place orders as required

Comply with all food safety and health regulations

What we're looking for

Minimum 3 years' experience as a Sous Chef or similar role in a busy cafe or restaurant

Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking methods and presentation

Excellent time management and organisational skills

Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment

Passion for creating delicious, high-quality dishes

Excellent communication and leadership skills

Food safety certification or willingness to obtain
