About the Role
As the General Manager, you will be responsible for leading and managing all aspects of HMC’s strategic, operational, and financial activities. You will work closely with the Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, and key stakeholders to ensure our programs remain impactful, sustainable, and aligned with the needs of multicultural communities in NSW.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Vision
· Develop and execute a long-term strategic plan that aligns with HMC’s mission.
· Identify new opportunities for growth and funding to expand community services.
· Lead with a community-first mindset, ensuring our services meet the evolving needs of CALD communities.
Community & Stakeholder Engagement
· Build and maintain strong relationships with government agencies, local councils, businesses, and community groups.
· Advocate for policies that support multicultural communities and enhance social inclusion.
· Represent HMC at public events, media engagements, and government consultations.
Program & Service Development
· Oversee the design, implementation, and evaluation of high-impact programs and services.
· Ensure all services are culturally appropriate, effective, and accessible.
· Drive innovation and continuous improvement in service delivery.
Financial & Operational Management
· Oversee the organization’s budget, funding, and financial sustainability.
· Develop and manage grant applications, sponsorships, and funding agreements.
· Ensure compliance with NSW’s SCHADS Award, governance regulations, and industry best practices.
Leadership & Team Development
· Inspire, mentor, and empower a dedicated team of professionals and volunteers.
· Foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performing organisational culture.
· Lead workforce planning, recruitment, and professional development initiatives.
About You
We are looking for a strong leader, communicator, and advocate with a deep commitment to multiculturalism and community services. You will thrive in this role if you:
· Have proven leadership experience in the not-for-profit, community, or government sector.
· Understand the challenges faced by CALD communities and can develop targeted programs to support them.
· Have excellent financial acumen, including experience in managing budgets, grants, and funding agreements.
· Are a strategic thinker with the ability to drive organizational growth and sustainability.
· Possess outstanding stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with government bodies, corporate sponsors, and grassroots organisations.
· Have experience in compliance and governance, ensuring alignment with SCHADS Award and other regulatory requirements.
· Are a people-focused leader who can inspire, support, and develop teams to achieve excellence.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
· Tertiary qualifications in Community Services, Business Administration, Social Work, or a related field.
· Experience in multicultural community engagement and advocacy.
· Strong knowledge of funding and grant management in the not-for-profit sector.
