Convair Engineering Pty Ltd, a specialist in engineered bulk transport solutions, is seeking a commercially astute and strategically driven General Manager to lead its operations based in Epping, Victoria.

Reporting to the Executive General Manager of Convair and DriveTrain this pivotal leadership role requires a professional with strong sales and commercial capabilities, particularly in capital transport equipment for the on-highway sector. You'll galvanise internal experts and cross-disciplinary teams to streamline process flow across engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and sales—providing both the glue and the direction that accelerates results.

Key Responsibilities:

· Lead and integrate operational departments (Production, Procurement, Engineering, Sales) to align with commercial outcomes.

· Exhibit clear safety leadership and actively sponsor the MakeSafe program to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.

· Champion Convair’s commercial and sales strategy, building a robust pipeline and driving revenue growth through deep sector knowledge and customer engagement.

· Make decisive, informed leadership calls with confidence—balancing strategic vision with hands-on execution.

· Drive financial performance to budget, including oversight of GM-level financials, P&L responsibility, and commercial KPIs.

· Promote a proactive safety culture through active sponsorship of the MakeSafe program.

· Foster continuous improvement across people, processes, and product quality—delivering innovation without compromising compliance or customer expectations.

About You:

• Demonstrated success in capital equipment sales, ideally in the heavy trailer or transport sector.
• Deep understanding of the on-highway market with the ability to engage customers, close sales, and enhance brand value.
• Strong operational leadership in manufacturing or production environments, with proven experience bringing cross-functional teams together.
• Confident financial leader with experience managing performance to budget and influencing strategic investment.
• A bias for action, strong problem-solving, and high accountability in complex, fast-paced environments.
• Exposure to trailer manufacturing or dry bulk haulage is desirable, but not essential.
• Ideally holds a business degree or MBA—or can demonstrate equivalent commercial and operational acumen.
