About the Role:

We are looking for a proactive and approachable HR Advisor to join our small and agile team at GM Australia & New Zealand. As our HR Advisor you will become the key point of contact for all advisory-related queries, playing a pivotal role in fostering employee engagement and maintaining effective internal communication. This role is responsible for planning and executing engagement activities across the business, upholding our employee benefits and ensuring smooth HR operations. The HR Advisor will collaborate with various teams and departments to support HR initiatives and enhance the employee experience within the organisation. We are looking for someone who has the ability to work through workplace relations matters, holds a sound understanding of employment law and relevant enterprise agreements, as well as HR best practices and policies. Key Responsibilities:
As a HR Advisor with GM ANZ, your main responsibilities will include:

HR Advisory Support:

Act as the first point of contact for all HR-related advisory inquiries, providing guidance and support to employees and managers on HR policies, procedures and general employment matters.

Ensure timely resolution of HR-related matters, including payroll inquiries, performance management issues, and workplace relations concerns.

Assist managers with conversations around enterprise agreements, remuneration frameworks, and employment conditions.

Employee Engagement

Plan, coordinate and execute a variety of employee engagement activities, including team-building events, wellness programs and recognition initiates. As well as increase our volunteering stance.

Develop strategies to promote a positive workplace culture and ensure high levels of employee satisfaction and morale.

Manage communications to the whole team regarding WoC surveys, collate results and support leaders in communicating these to the teams. Work alongside the team on action plans and empowering our leaders to push change.

Internal Communications:

Manage and distribute internal communications, including company announcements (ie. new hires, new team structures, offboarding employees, job opportunities), policy updates and important HR related information.

Maintain the internal HR SharePoint to allow employees to find answers to FAQs more easily and ensure content on our employee intranet is current and relevant.

Ensure open lines of communication across the organisation, promoting transparency and employee involvement.

Work closely alongside our communications team to share department news and updates internally.

Administration and Benefits Management:

Administer employee benefits programs, including health, wellness, retirement, and other perks, ensuring accuracy in enrolment and eligibility. This includes keeping our benefits SharePoint up to date and easily accessible for all employees.

Assist in bringing in new partners for the benefits package, along with this comes the coordination of these external vendors and partners and ensuring smooth collaboration.

Assist employees with questions or issues regarding their benefits. Be the mid – point between them and our partners.

HR Records and Documentation:

Assist in contract management, ensuring all candidate and employee documentation, performance metrics, and reporting systems are well-organised and compliant with legal regulations.

Prepare reports, employee surveys, and other HR documentation as required.

Support HR Projects and other relevant Initiatives:

Collaborate with managers to shape internal development pathways and assess upcoming hiring demands.

Contribute to HR projects that drive organisational development, including training and policy updates.

General HR Support:

Provide HR support to the wider team and assist with other tasks as needed.

Stay informed about HR best practices, trends, and industry developments to contribute fresh ideas to the HR department.

Please note: this is a 2-year fixed term position.

About You:
You’re an organised, approachable, and proactive individual who thrives in a collaborative environment. You have a strong understanding of HR principles, employment law, and employee benefits. You possess excellent communication skills and a passion for supporting employees at all levels. You’re confident managing multiple tasks and can maintain confidentiality in sensitive situations. A positive attitude and an eagerness to contribute to workplace culture make you the ideal fit for our team.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Proven experience in an HR Advisor role (at least 5 years’ experience is preferred).

Strong knowledge of HR principles, employee benefits, and compliance requirements.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

High attention to detail, organisational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and HRIS (e.g., Workday, ServiceNow, benefits portals).

Preferred Skills:

Knowledge of labour laws and HR compliance requirements.

Experience in employee engagement and wellness program coordination.

Strong interpersonal skills with a positive attitude and a passion for supporting others.

Knowledge of more than one language is desired.
