About the role
The Wangaaypuwan Local Aboriginal Land Council is seeking an experienced Ranger Co-ordinator to join their team in Hillston, NSW. In this full-time role, you will be responsible for coordinating a team of rangers to manage and conserve the local natural environment and cultural heritage. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the protection and preservation of the Wangaaypuwan Local Aboriginal Land Council area and its unique ecosystem.
What you'll be doing
Oversee and manage a team of rangers to ensure the effective implementation of conservation, cultural heritage and land management strategies
Develop, implement and monitor operational plans and procedures for ranger activities
Liaise with local authorities, community groups and other stakeholders to coordinate conservation efforts
Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and land management best practices
Identify and secure funding opportunities to support the council's conservation initiatives
Provide mentoring and training to rangers to develop their skills and knowledge
Prepare detailed reports on the team's activities and outcomes
What we're looking for
Significant experience in a similar ranger co-ordinator or land management role, ideally within the conservation or parks and wildlife sector
Demonstrated expertise in developing and implementing conservation strategies and land management plans
Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build effective partnerships
Thorough understanding of relevant environmental regulations and land management best practices
Proficiency in data analysis and report writing
Relevant tertiary qualifications in conservation, environmental management or a related field
