We are a fast-growing 3PL business seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join our finance team. This role is ideal for someone who excels in accounts receivable, has strong reporting and analytical skills, and is confident in providing exceptional customer support in a high-volume environment.
You’ll play a key part in managing our weekly invoicing cycle, generating daily financial reports, and maintaining accurate customer account records. This position requires someone with excellent Excel capabilities, the ability to work to tight deadlines, and a proactive mindset.
🔑 Key Responsibilities
Accounts Receivable & Invoicing
Accurately prepare and issue weekly invoices and follow up on overdue accounts
Manage the end-to-end AR process using both Xero and Excel-based systems
Reconcile bank transactions and allocate payments in a timely manner
Reporting & Financial Analysis
Generate daily reports and conduct detailed customer account analysis using advanced Excel functions
Assist with data visualisation and performance tracking via Power BI
Provide internal and external financial summaries that support business decisions
Customer & Internal Support
Serve as a key contact for client queries relating to invoices and accounts
Work closely with the operations and sales teams to resolve any account or billing issues
Maintain professional and efficient communication with both customers and internal departments
Future Growth of Role
Responsibilities in accounts payable and payroll will be introduced later as the role expands
A flexible mindset and eagerness to learn new processes is essential
✅ What We're Looking For
Strong command of Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and Power Query
Previous experience in accounts receivable, financial reporting, and client service
Strong attention to detail with a commitment to meeting tight weekly and daily deadlines
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
Friendly, reliable, and professional with a team-first attitude
📅 Employment Details
Full-time, Monday to Friday (38 hours/week)
Hybrid flexibility: Work-from-home arrangements available by negotiation
Salary: $70,000 – $75,000 + Super
Location: South Yarra, VIC – onsite parking provided
