PERSOL is seeking a Technical Support Officer to join the Local Council Information Technology Division.
This position is a technical specialist with excellent troubleshooting skills. They have expert knowledge across a variety of business technologies and how technologies work together and are able to quickly make decisions and changes to resolve support problems. This position is responsible for installing, managing, troubleshooting and testing business applications and hardware on end users' devices remotely or physically within the environment.
Your main duties and responsibilities will include
Responsibilities
- Provide 2nd and 3rd level IT support, effectively responding to incidents, including incident and service requests and problem resolution and management consistent with SLAs and KPIs, technical troubleshooting and resolution of various complex hardware and software issues, and ensuring all incidents / requests are categorised / recorded efficiently and correctly, appropriate artefacts are captured and updated, and identify and drive opportunities for business / process improvement.
- Deliver operational management and support for Software Management, Standard Operating Environment (SOE) Management, Management of end-point devices and plan and deliver ICT hardware functions for 'end-Point' devices, and Secure endpoints through proper configuration, antivirus and malware protection, and regular updates to applications and operating systems.
- Identifies and resolves network problems following agreed procedures.
- Operate as a technical lead / advisor to deliver technical components of major change, upgrade initiatives and projects, including establishing and maintaining desktop, mobile device, hardware, and software standards performing needs assessment, reviews products, and advises on procurement, identifying and document end-user business requirements, performs initial analysis, researches and proposes computing solutions for implementation and design management systems that deploy software and patches/updates, deploy imaging systems, manage configurations and policies for desktops/laptops/VMs, deliver security policies, perform data backups, gather data and inventory of assets, and monitor end user experience.
- Lead or contribute to small to major incident management responses, including stakeholder management, post incident review, document, etc. On-Call officer is Major Incident Manager after-hours.
- Effectively contribute to the completion of small to complex medium-scale and large projects across the project lifecycle and provide advice and support to the immediate team in respect to project management principles and best-practice.
- In collaboration with the Systems Engineers, ensure the availability, functionality, performance, reliability and security of cloud and infrastructure services to meet current and anticipated future business requirements
What are we looking for?
- Tertiary qualification in Information Technology or demonstrated equivalent industry experience in the discipline of IT Service Management and or Project Management
- Minimum 5 years industry experience in a similar or relevant position.
- Expert knowledge and demonstrated experience with most of the following: Windows Domain environments employing Microsoft Exchange and Active Directory Services;
- Cloud services e.g. Microsoft Azure and Office 365.
- Workstation Management and Software deployment tooling including Microsoft MECM;
- Security management and related technologies;
- Advanced scripting and coding as it pertains to OS deployment, automation and application modification
- Networking technologies
- Server and Desktop virtualizatio.
