DTCo is seeking a dynamic and skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our innovative team. From Defence primes to leading brewers, dairies, and transport manufacturers, your ability to adapt to a diverse range of projects will ensure a varied experience, allowing you to grow.
About the Role:
As a Mechanical Design Engineer at DTCo, you will be instrumental in transforming concepts into tangible, manufacturable designs. You will apply your expertise across a diverse range of projects and industries, ensuring compliance with industry standards and driving the successful application of Design For Manufacture (DFM) principles.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop well-structured, complex 3D CAD models.
Produce precise engineering drawings and drafts for production.
Ensure compliance with industry standards, specifications, and regulations in all drawings.
Generate comprehensive Bills of Materials (BOMs) and material specifications to support procurement and manufacturing processes.
Design for both traditional and new manufacturing processes.
Develop and communicate technical documents and specifications for mechanical components, assemblies, and systems.
Baseline Requirements:
An Australian Citizen eligible for baseline security clearance.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering with relevant industry experience. Education specializing in Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Structural Design Engineering will be highly regarded.
3-5 years' experience in Engineering.
Proficiency in well-structured, complex 3D CAD modelling.
Excellent engineering drawing/drafting skills for production.
Experienced in industry-standard CAD software such as Autodesk Inventor, Solidworks, AutoCAD, or similar.
Demonstrable, successful application of Design For Manufacture (DFM) principles.
A strong ability to develop technical documents and specifications for mechanical components, assemblies, and systems, and communicate them productively.
Highly Advantageous Skills:
Experience with laser scanning or other reality capture methods, point cloud management, and reverse engineering.
Ability to use Configurations/Model States within CAD software.
Advanced surfacing in CAD.
Electrical routing in CAD.
Ability to create Macros/iLogic tools within CAD to drive automated functionality.
Excellent knowledge and experience in cloud-based tools such as Google Drive, DropBox, OneDrive, and project management tools such as Trello.
Experience with MRP, ERP, PDM, or PLM systems.
A trade background and/or hands-on experience of manufacturing processes.
Other CAD software such as Microstation, NX, etc are advantageous.
