We have an exciting opportunity for a driven and community-focused professional to join our team as Coordinator Community Development!
What You Will Do:
As Coordinator Community Development, you will lead a multidisciplinary team dedicated to enhancing quality of life and inclusion across the Cairns community. You will oversee a range of dynamic portfolios and initiatives, including:
Community Development: First Peoples, disability and inclusion, wellbeing, housing and homelessness, and grassroots community initiatives.
Community Partnerships: Community grants, strategic partnerships, and collaboration with key stakeholders.
Green Space Our Place: Council’s celebrated nursery, revegetation programs, and volunteer engagement.
Social Resilience: Leading human and social disaster management functions in partnership with local services.
In addition to these core portfolios, the role also leads Council’s Domestic and Family Violence initiatives and coordinates the human and social functions of disaster management, working with service providers to support preparedness, response, and recovery across the region.
What We Are Looking For:
Tertiary qualifications in social science, community development or other relevant qualifications.
Demonstrated experience working within social service frameworks through a Local Government focus.
Demonstrated high level understanding, application and implementation of contemporary social policy and community development principles and practices, strategic planning, and delivery.
High level of interpersonal skills to resolve organisational issues, create a culture of innovation, common goals, trust and values, and the ability to foster a team environment.
