Location: Kensington, Western Australia

The Office of Information Management (OIM) is responsible for information management and related information and communication technology (IT) to enable the Department to achieve its strategic, tactical and operational goals through the right IT governance and correct information and technology controls.

We currently have an opportunity for a Project Officer (IT) to join our team.

The Project Officer (IT) supports the Manager, IT Programs and Projects with the coordination of a range of project support and project governance activities including development and implementation of OIM project and work procedures:

  • Takes responsibility for the provision of support services to projects; uses project control solutions for planning, scheduling and tracking of projects.
  • Contributes to issue resolution and escalation, research and analysis activities, and planning and monitoring change processes.
  • Assists with the maintenance of OIM project records, OIM IT system test plans, OIM IT System Register records, preparing OIM Request for Change.
  • Facilitates the maintenance of the business-IT change lifecycle including annual planning and ongoing projects delivery performance monitoring and tracking.
  • Ensures compliance with methodologies, change management processes, security policies and quality assurance policies and procedures.
  • Undertakes review of project delivery methodologies, business-IT change management processes, policies and procedures and assists with communicating and implementing changes and updates.
  • Develops and maintains various technical reports including business-IT investment and IT project performance (budget, schedule and resources).
  • Develops and maintains software tools and processes for managing project processes and reporting.

Selection Criteria

  1. Experience working in a complex, varied and geographically distributed information and related technology (IT) public sector organisation or similar, demonstrating ability to explore various possibilities and generate innovative solutions relating to all aspects of IT portfolio, program and project management, including experience working in a portfolio or project coordination/support role.
  2. Demonstrated ability to apply lateral and creative thinking to contribute ideas and solutions for a complex, varied and geographically distributed environment, including having knowledge of contemporary issues related to best practice principles, methods and processes, and a demonstrated ability to apply these in a diverse corporate environment.
  3. Working knowledge of IT project management and IT project governance.
  4. Demonstrated experience in writing technical instructions, end-user guidelines, reporting and dashboard development (including a high proficiency in Excel).
