SS Benching are a well-established sheet metal fabrication business located in Kilsyth. Our business is continuing to grow and we now need someone to join us in a pivotal role, working with the Director of the business. The successful candidate is someone who sees themselves as an executor, to relinquish some of the operational burden from our Director.

If you’re the right person for this role, you’ll be highly organised, efficient and a systems thinker. You’ll have strong attention to detail and be able to work alone unsupervised when required. You’ll have excellent communication skills and have experience in managing others. You enjoy being given a task with a deadline and a clear outcome to achieve, but requires you to project manage and problem solve the best way to achieve this outcome yourself.

Experience with CAD software is strongly desired (e.g. Solidworks or similar), ideally experience with sheet metal components. Experience programming laser cutters is strongly desired (E.g. Metalix or similar).

What the role involves:

Produce 2D/3D technical drawings for clients

Design bespoke commercial kitchen equipment in Solidworks for manufacture

Create CAM files for 2D laser cutter

Create CAM files for 2D CNC router

Part of this role will entail you preparing drawings for the fabrication team as well as preparing ‘As Built’ drawings to present to clients. But what’s critical here is someone that can take ownership of the operations of the business and really drive outcomes. We are looking for someone that’s not afraid to challenge the way things are done and suggest alternatives or better ways.

About you:

Have experience in the manufacturing industry, perhaps in cabinet making, kitchens or something similar

Be able to interpret engineering & construction drawings

Minimum one of the following:

CAD/CAM experience

Sheet metal fabrication experience

Laser cutter programming/technician experience

Have experience in managing a small team

Have your own method of transport

Experience with Microsoft Office suite/strong computer literacy

Must have full working rights within Australia
