We are currently seeking applications for a Senior Risk and Assurance Advisor to join the Fines Enforcement and Recovery Unit at the Department of Treasury & Finance.
Remuneration: ASO7 – Salary Range ($108,109 - $116,864 pa)
About the opportunity
Reporting to the Principal, Legal and Governance, this role will be responsible for strengthening the Fines Unit’s governance, risk and compliance functions by leading the development and implementation of frameworks that ensure compliance with the Fines Enforcement and Debt Recovery Act 2017, Debt Recovery Guidelines and broader public sector obligations.
About you
To be successful you will have:
Demonstrated experience in risk management, audit, or compliance within a regulatory or enforcement environment.
Ability to translate complex legislative and operational risks into practical, actionable strategies.
Strong understanding of public sector governance frameworks, including the Fines Enforcement and Debt Recovery Act 2017, Treasury Instructions, and protective security policies.
Ability to identify and analyse problems, initiate and foster positive change, and apply new ideas and concepts to enable business or organisational improvement.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
High level communication skills, including experience in adjusting communication style to suit a variety of stakeholders.
Strong ability to exercise sound judgement and make effective recommendations or decisions.
Demonstrated ability to influence and lead through establishing strong and trusted working relationships.
Demonstrated experience in preparing briefings and reports to management, and researching, collating and presenting information through organisational frameworks, policies and procedures.
Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across government and partner agencies.
