This South Australian Government department plays a critical role in delivering high-quality public services that support positive outcomes for the community. With a strong focus on governance, integrity, and continuous improvement, the department is seeking a highly capable Senior Governance, Risk & Compliance Business Partner to lead their enterprise risk, audit, and compliance functions.
Your new role
Reporting directly to the Director, People & Performance, you will be responsible for leading the development and delivery of robust governance, risk management, audit, assurance, and policy frameworks. This role will see you act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, driving compliance maturity and embedding a proactive culture of risk and assurance across the organisation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the development of enterprise-wide internal audit and assurance programs.
- Providing expert advice on risk, compliance, internal controls, and governance matters.
- Reviewing, developing, and maintaining policies and procedures to ensure alignment with legislative and government requirements.
- Managing Freedom of Information (FOI) requests and acting as an FOI Officer.
- Overseeing the department's Protective Security Framework and associated activities.
- Building strategic partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure integrated risk management practices.
- Supporting process improvement initiatives and contributing to strategic planning and performance optimisation.
What you'll need to succeed
You will be a seasoned governance and risk professional with proven experience delivering strategic and operational outcomes within a complex organisation. To be successful, you will demonstrate:
- A deep understanding of risk management frameworks (e.g. ISO 31000) and strategic planning methodologies.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management capabilities.
- Experience managing compliance functions, FOI processes, and security frameworks is desirable.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and drive change in policy and culture.
