Project Specialist (Brisbane)

Are you an experienced Project Specialist with a knack for driving strategic change? Join a high-impact team in Brisbane for an initial 10-month contract, playing a crucial role in a significant business transformation within a major government infrastructure division!

Our client is responsible for an expansive and growing portfolio of educational infrastructure assets, with an annual delivery budget exceeding $1.7 billion and over 2,000 projects underway. To meet increased demands and uplift business practices, they are undertaking several ambitious transformation initiatives focusing on portfolio, financial, asset, and contract management, as well as digital enablement. This is your chance to make a tangible difference in shaping the future of infrastructure delivery!

About the Role:

This pivotal Project Specialist role will provide leadership and strategic input into a key internal transformation project. You'll work closely with the Project Manager, Business Analysts, and Change Manager, while engaging regularly with C-suite stakeholders and senior executives across the Infrastructure Services Division.

You will be instrumental in establishing frameworks, providing workshops to establish gateway assurance, and driving solution development. Bringing deep experience in infrastructure lifecycle management and delivery frameworks, you'll assess current state capability, identify opportunities for uplift, and drive the adoption of improved portfolio, program, and project (P3M) practices. Your strong collaboration, influence, and advisory skills will be essential in embedding fit-for-purpose processes and building delivery maturity across diverse stakeholder groups.

Key Accountabilities Include (but are not limited to):

Supporting the implementation of a Project Lifecycle Framework and providing subject matter expertise in the maturity uplift of processes across the infrastructure Portfolio.

Interpreting relevant frameworks, including the Queensland Project Assessment Framework (PAF), to support the implementation of a Project Lifecycle Framework.

Providing strategic advice on governance and assurance for major infrastructure projects, including the design and application of gateway reviews, investment assurance processes, and risk mitigation strategies aligned with Queensland Treasury requirements.

Applying expert knowledge of Queensland Government infrastructure delivery models, encompassing procurement strategies, risk management, and capital investment planning - spanning the full project lifecycle from strategic assessment to benefits realisation and post-implementation review.

Leading the development of tools, templates, guidance materials, and training to build organisational capability and embed consistent, best-practice infrastructure delivery and project management approaches.

Working collaboratively with all stakeholders to drive alignment and support the successful delivery of project objectives.

Demonstrating readiness and capability to assume project leadership responsibilities if required, including acting in the Project Manager role to maintain delivery continuity and support project outcomes.

Demonstrating a high level of written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex frameworks and technical requirements into clear, actionable guidance for diverse audiences.

Identifying capacity and capability requirements across the portfolio to provide uplift.

Implementing standardised practices across the portfolio regarding contract management/administration and delivery.
