Finance Officer (Part-Time)
Location: Sydney | Hybrid (minimum 50% office-based)
Hours: 3 days per week or 4 shorter school-hour days
Reports to: Finance Manager
About APCO
The Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation (APCO) is Australia’s co-regulator for packaging. We are a purpose-driven, member-based organisation working at the forefront of sustainability, circular economy design, and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) for packaging.
Our small but highly engaged team is focused on delivering meaningful environmental outcomes through practical, industry-supported change. We value professionalism, collaboration, and systems thinking, and we are looking for a motivated and reliable People & Culture Coordinator to support our internal capability as we grow.
The Role
This is a hands-on finance role supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the organisation. You’ll work closely with the Finance Manager and CFO to ensure accurate records, timely processes, and smooth financial administration across the board.From reconciling transactions and supporting audits to maintaining finance systems and resolving queries, you’ll help ensure APCO’s finances are accurate, reliable, and well-run. You’ll also be a key point of contact for internal teams – helping others understand our financial processes and improving the consistency and clarity of how we work. This role will suit someone with a proactive mindset, strong attention to detail, and a collaborative, service-oriented approach.

Relevant Experience and Qualifications
We’re open to different backgrounds, but you’ll likely bring some combination of the following:
- Prior experience in a finance, accounts or financial admin role (3 years+)
- A tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Business or similar (or working towards one)
- Experience with accounts payable and purchasing systems and processes
- Confidence working with accounting and payroll systems such as Xero, MYOB, and Employment Hero (or a willingness to learn)
- Highly developed MS Office skills, particularly Excel
- Excellent attention to detail and strong written and verbal communication skills
- A self-motivated, organised approach and a willingness to take initiative to resolve issues
