About the Role

The Finance Officer plays a key role in the day-to-day financial operations of the College, supporting both students and staff. Reporting to the Finance Manager, this position covers a wide range of financial activities including payroll, student billing, accounts processing, reconciliations, compliance, and financial reporting.

The role offers variety and responsibility — ideal for a finance professional who is looking to make a difference within a dynamic community setting.

Key Responsibilities

Process payroll, accounts payable and receivable, and banking transactions

Apply student billing, rebates, scholarships, and direct debit arrangements in StarRez

Maintain compliance with taxation and finance regulations (BAS, FBT, PAYG, Super)

Support budgeting, forecasting, audits, and month/year-end procedures

Assist with system and process improvements

Provide cover for the Finance Manager during periods of leave

Support the wider administration team in a collaborative and collegiate environment

Other duties, as required from time to time, supporting the College’s Vision and Mission

Qualifications and Experience

Required

Tertiary qualification in Accounting

Having two to four years relevant finance or accounting related experience

Good understanding of financial and accounting procedures

Proficiency in MYOB, Microsoft Excel and good level of computer literacy

Be a quick learner and detail oriented

Ability to work as part of a team, as well as individually with limited supervision

Strong written and verbal communication abilities

To have the clearance status of Working with Children check

Full rights to work in Australia

Desirable

Previous work experience in a residential or not-for-profit environment

Previous experience with StarRez (student/residential information system)
