Join a highly respected and proudly family-owned organisation that plays a central role in connecting people, business, and the community. Known for its collaborative culture and forward-thinking leadership, this organisation supports a dynamic and evolving workforce with a strong focus on integrity, quality service, and continuous improvement.
Based in a landmark location with excellent facilities, this is a business that values its people and provides a welcoming, high-performing work environment.
The Opportunity
This is your chance to step into a critical role that ensures every employee is paid accurately, on time, and in line with their employment conditions. If you enjoy the rhythm of payroll, thrive on getting the details right, and want to be a trusted go-to for all things payroll and workers compensation, then this is the role for you.
You’ll also have the opportunity to contribute to a major system transformation and help shape the future of payroll processing within the organisation. It’s a busy but rewarding role where your knowledge and problem-solving skills will be valued every day.
The Role
As Payroll Officer, you’ll take ownership of the end-to-end payroll process and support the broader HR team.
Key duties include:
- Process fortnightly payroll across multiple entities
- Interpret and apply relevant Awards and enterprise agreements
- Calculate and manage superannuation, tax, and salary continuance obligations
- Prepare month-end and year-end payroll journals, reconciliations and reports
- Administer workers compensation claims and liaise with insurers and managers
- Provide accurate reporting and data analysis to HR management
- Support HR systems upgrades and payroll software integration (e.g. SAGE)
- Maintain and improve payroll documentation, processes, and compliance
- Be the friendly, helpful point of contact for all payroll queries
- Contribute to continuous improvement and ad-hoc HR administration as needed
The Ideal Person
You’re a confident, self-starting payroll professional who brings precision, initiative, and a warm, approachable style to your work. You enjoy solving puzzles, meeting deadlines, and making sure people are looked after.
You’re equally comfortable crunching numbers and building strong relationships across the business. You’ll be familiar with payroll software and Awards interpretation and have a proactive approach to systems and compliance. If you’re the kind of person who spots inefficiencies and enjoys making things better, you’ll be right at home here.
A natural team player, you’ll thrive in a collaborative environment and enjoy supporting your colleagues and contributing beyond your core responsibilities when needed. You’re also someone who values discretion, professionalism, and the important role payroll plays in the overall health and reputation of an organisation.
