Payroll Officer – Maternity Leave Cover – Full Time Fixed Term (Immediate start to May 2026)
We are looking for an experienced and meticulous Payroll Officer with relevant knowledge to handle end-to-end payroll processing.
About the Role
The Payroll Officer role is responsible for the timely, accurate and confidential processing of the organisation’s payroll, ensuring compliance with government regulations.
The Payroll Officer role will report to the Payroll Manager and assist by supporting all levels of the organisation with a high level of customer services and maintaining payroll reputation as a true business partner.
Selection Criteria
Essential:
Previous experience in payroll processing of a similar sized organisation.
A mature, collaborative and team-oriented approach to work.
Demonstrated experience and ability interpreting complex awards and / or enterprise agreements.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of current legislation.
Maintain current ‘Working with Vulnerable People’ registration.
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Sound time management and prioritising skills.
Quick to act with high attention to detail.
Demonstrated ability to operate with limited supervision.
Positive and a can-do attitude.
Desirable
Access MicrOpay payroll experience
easyEMPLOYER Time and Attendance software experience, favourable but not essential
About You
As a Payroll Officer, you will
work closely with other members of the HR team to ensure accurate and timely completion of people related pay issues, and liaise with the team as required, on employee appointments, terminations, remuneration, conditions of service and other relevant matters.
provide a high level of customer service to all employees, ensuring payroll related queries are actioned accurately and in a timely manner.
ensure that payroll processing is completed in accordance with relevant legislation, the Communities at Work Enterprise Agreements, awards and other industrial instruments.
