Role Overview:
We are looking for an Accountant in our Melbourne Office to manage all financial transactions, from fixed payments and variable expenses to bank deposits and budgets.
Accountant responsibilities include reconciling bank statements and calculating tax payments and returns. To be successful in this role, you should have previous experience with bookkeeping and numerical analysis.
This role will provide the team with accurate quantitative information on financial position, liquidity and cash flows of our business, while ensuring we’re compliant with all tax regulations.
This role will report into the Chief Financial & Operating Officer, working alongside the Senior Finance Manager. We are looking for a team player who can collaborate across our organisation to fulfill the requirements of the role.
High Level Responsibilities include:
Capella Investor level |
Maintain and reconcile Capella investor accounts, including capital contributions, distributions, and returns.
Prepare periodic investor statements and financial reports.
Support fund accounting processes, including NAV calculations and performance metrics.
Liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure data integrity and timely reporting.
Assist in the preparation of tax documentation and compliance filings related to investor activities.
Monitor and report on investment structures, ownership changes, and related accounting impacts.
Capella Business level |
Prepare and maintain general ledger entries, reconciliations, and journal postings.
Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly management reporting and annual financial statements.
Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoice processing and payment tracking.
Support budgeting and forecasting activities, including variance analysis and reporting.
Ensure compliance with tax obligations, including BAS, GST, and payroll tax.
Liaise with external auditors and assist with audit preparation.
Monitor cash flow and assist with treasury functions.
Maintain fixed asset registers and depreciation schedules.
Contribute to process improvements and system enhancements.
Comply with financial policies and regulations
Experience & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
CPA or CA qualification (or working towards) preferred.
3–5 years of experience in accounting and financial planning roles.
Advanced financial modelling skills, including proficiency in Excel and scenario analysis.
Strong understanding of Australian accounting standards and tax regulations.
Experience with accounting software (e.g., NetSuite) and financial planning tools.
Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Background in PPP and PPP-like transactions highly desirable.
