About the role

The Cruising Yacht Club of SA is seeking an experienced Assistant Restaurant Manager to join our dynamic team as we continue to grow our food and beverage operations. In this full-time position, you will report the the Venue Manager, and play a pivotal role in overseeing the daily operations of our restaurant and bistro, ensuring exceptional customer service.

What you'll be doing

Work hands-on with a small, united front-of-house team, supervising and ensuring seamless service across our bistro, award-winning Italian restaurant and functions

Lead by example to create friendly, inviting, and professional hospitality experiences

Oversee table management, reservations, and function/event operations

Work autonomously at times, including opening/closing the venue

Monitoring inventory, stock control and budgeting to optimise operational efficiency

Assisting with the development and implementation of marketing and promotional strategies

Participating in the training and development of restaurant staff and help maintain a positive culture

Perform monthly stock take, weekly beverage orders and assist with rosters

What we're looking for

Hospitality experience in restaurant/bistro, bar, and/or function service with strong leadership, communication, time-management and interpersonal skills

Minimum 3 years of table service experience, preferably more

Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities

Proficient in inventory management, cost control and financial reporting

Passion for delivering exceptional customer service

Knowledge of food safety and liquor licensing regulations

RSA certification essential

Must have own transport

High-level commitment to work over a 5-day week (Wednesday to Sunday) and must be available weekends. (and some public holidays)

Ability to stand for long periods, perform manual handling tasks and work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
