About the role

Join Inner West Council as a Learning and Development Officer and help shape the future of our workforce. In this dynamic and impactful role, you’ll support the delivery of innovative learning programs and capability-building initiatives that empower our people to thrive.

Reporting to the Learning and Development Specialist, you’ll manage the Learning Management System (LMS), coordinate training logistics, and contribute to strategic workforce development. Your role will also involve liaising with external vendors, overseeing procurement activities, and ensuring smooth course bookings and vendor negotiations—all in alignment with Council’s procurement processes.

Remuneration

$81,460.08 to $91,316.16 + 12% Superannuation

Some of the required skills, experience and qualifications

Essential Criteria

  1. Relevant vocational or tertiary qualifications in business administration or related discipline and relevant experience in learning and development administration, training coordination or corporate training environments.
  2. Ability to oversee the LMS by building course details, maintaining attendance records and generating reports.
  3. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to fast-changing priorities in a high-pressure environment.
  4. Excellent organisational skills, with the abilit to implement training schedules, book venues and manage training logistics efficiently
  5. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and learning technologies, including LMS platforms.
  6. Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external providers.
  7. Current Class C (minimum) NSW Driver's Licence

Desirable Criteria

  1. Experience with the Australian Business Framework or continuous improvement methodologies
  2. Experience working within local government or council environments
