Roxby Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Aquatics Team Leader to oversee the day-to-day operations of our aquatic facilities at Roxby Link.
Who We Are
Roxby Downs is a vibrant, purpose-built mining town serving BHP’s Olympic Dam operations. With a youthful, diverse community, it offers modern amenities including two schools, a cinema, a cultural precinct, gym, library, cafes, a pub, and of course – our fantastic aquatics facilities: an indoor heated pool, an outdoor pool, and a splashpad.
Your Role – Splash Into Leadership
This leadership role is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of aquatic programs and services that align with Council’s strategic vision. You will play a key role in developing inclusive, community-focused programs, managing staff, maintaining compliance, and promoting active lifestyles.
As Aquatics Team Leader, you’ll be at the helm of our aquatic operations. Key responsibilities include:
· Leading and mentoring a team of lifeguards and swim instructors.
· Overseeing swim school operations and aquatic program delivery.
· Managing water quality, safety procedures, and facility maintenance.
· Driving community engagement and promoting health and wellbeing.
· Ensuring compliance with WHS and aquatic safety standards.
· Coordinating training and staff development initiatives.

What You Bring
Cert III or IV in Aquatics, Recreation or related field, or equivalent experience.
Current pool Lifeguard, First Aid, CPR certifications (or willing to obtain).
Leadership experience in aquatic or recreational settings is preferred.
Aquatic Technical Operator certification (or willing to obtain).
Liquified Chlorine Gas Handling certification (or willing to obtain).
Self-contained Breathing Apparatus certification (or willing to obtain).
Strong communication and mentoring skills, where you value teamwork, safety and customer service.
A passion for water safety and community outreach.
