Edexia is a Y Combinator-backed Australian startup building AI tools to support teachers in marking high school assessments. We are on a mission to restore human dignity and depth to education by dramatically reducing the time teachers spend on marking, while increasing the quality of feedback students receive.

This is a full-time, ongoing position based in-person in Brisbane.

We're looking for a deeply technical engineer with a background in mathematics, competitive programming, or AI systems. You will join a small, elite team to design and implement internal tools and algorithms that sit at the core of our AI-assisted marking infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

Design, build, and optimize systems for automated assessment analysis and feedback generation

Develop internal tooling to support reasoning, grading logic, and annotation pipelines

Work closely with the CEO, CTO and COO to ship core features and infrastructure

Think from first principles to solve novel, unsolved problems in education, logic, and NLP

Required Qualifications:

Exceptional algorithmic and problem-solving ability (e.g. IOI/IMO medalist or equivalent experience)

Proficiency in full-stack web-app development

Familiarity with LLMs or symbolic reasoning frameworks is a plus

Demonstrated ability to build and ship production systems in small teams

Experience in educational roles, or previous experience in founding or working at startups
