The Company:

Our client is a leading engineering contractor who has been specialising for over 25 years in a comprehensive and unique range of ground engineering solutions including ground anchoring, slope stabilisation, shotcrete, architectural shotcrete, retention & foundation piling, specialist civils contracting and ground improvement.

Our client has an exciting permanent opportunity for an experienced Project Engineer to join their North Queensland team in Cairns.

This role is a permanently based role located in Cairns. This is NOT a FIFO role.

You’ll be reporting directly into the State Operations Manager and the Project Management team. You will be starting work on a 2 year Ground Engineering and Slope Stabilisation disaster relief project and after completion will transition on to your next local project.

Your Main Responsibilities:

• Technical Expertise: Providing technical guidance and support on all aspects of ground engineering and civil works.
• Team Leadership: Managing and coordinating the activities of engineers, subcontractors, and other personnel involved on the projects.
• Stakeholder Communication: Liaising with clients, contractors, and other project stakeholders to ensure clear communication and collaboration.
• Quality Assurance: Completing quality control procedures and conducting site inspections to ensure that all work meets the required standards.
• Cost Control: Monitoring project costs, managing budgets, and reporting on financial status.
• Compliance: Ensuring that all works comply with relevant regulations, standards, and safety protocols.
• Document Management: Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of project activities, including plans, designs, reports, and correspondence.
• Procurement: Assisting with the procurement process for materials and services.
• Site Inspections: Regularly inspecting work sites to ensure that work is being carried out according to specifications and safety standards.

Skills and Experience Required:

• Minimum of 3 + years previous experience in a Project Engineer role working on Ground Engineering projects (Essential requirement).
• Tertiary Qualified in Engineering / Geotechnical Engineering (Essential requirement).
• Required experience in: Ground engineering solutions including ground anchoring, slope stabilisation, shotcrete, architectural shotcrete, retention & foundation piling, specialist civils contracting and ground improvement (Essential requirement).
• Excellent communication skills - with internal and external people.
• Full Drivers License.
• White Card.
• Full Australian working rights - No sponsorship available.
