Our client has decades of experience conducting clinical trials in multiple therapeutic areas, providing the best outcomes for participants and sponsors. Their network of sites in Sydney and Melbourne conduct Phase I to Phase IV trials in purpose built out-patient facilities. Working closely with their sponsor’s teams and understanding their sponsor’s objectives allows them to implement a tailored approach to meet their clinical trial requirements.
The Role
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) ensures the financial sustainability, regulatory integrity, and strategic agility required to support rapid growth and innovation in this highly regulated and competitive sector. The role will financially transform the organisation, driving strategic growth to double revenue year-on-year, elevating the finance function from operational to strategic and embed a culture of commercial acumen across the team.
You will act as a strategic partner to the executive team, translating financial insights into business opportunities, aligning resources with strategic priorities, and ensuring the organisation is equipped to deliver high-impact clinical research outcomes at scale.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the continuous financial growth of the company, partnering with management to achieve profitability targets.
Support the Group CFO with board reporting, strategic projects, and ad hoc queries.
Enhance and drive finance function performance aligned with business growth and professionalism.
Drive budgeting and forecasting, including monthly reporting and analysis of business drivers.
In conjunction with the finance team, manage month-end processes, including P&L and balance sheet reviews and reconciliations.
Ensure timely delivery of quarterly and annual statutory reports.
Oversee compliance with financial regulations, including ATO reporting and GST.
Build and lead a high-performing finance team.
Act as trusted advisor to the CEO and Group CFO on financial and business matters.
To be successful in this role you must have proven experience in Financial Operations, Leadership and Staff Management, Regulatory and Quality Assurance, Business and Strategic Support, Board Reporting and Process Improvement. You are centred and driven, with an analytical mindset; able to delegate effectively and inspire your team. Further, your ability to advocate for change and implement strategies will help shape the future of the company.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master's degree or professional certification (e.g., CPA, CFA) is preferred.
Extensive experience in financial management, ideally with at least 5 years in a CFO role within the life sciences sector.
Strong understanding of clinical trial operations, regulatory requirements, and financial management in a clinical research setting preferred.
Exceptional analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Experts in Excel and PowerPoint .
Proven ability to lead and develop teams, manage cross-functional projects, and drive organizational change.
