Position Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Finance Manager to join our growing construction group and finance team. This is a key leadership role suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment and brings a commercial mindset with deep expertise in financial management, contract administration, and compliance with Australian tax and accounting standards.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the CFO, you’ll be responsible for overseeing the financial performance of the business, managing end-to-end accounting processes, ensuring taxation and compliance obligations are met, and playing a crucial role in the commercial review and administration of contracts.
This role offers a unique opportunity to make an immediate and meaningful impact across all facets of the business, contributing to financial and operational decision-making as the company experiences rapid growth. As Finance Manager, you’ll not only apply your expertise from day one but also continue developing your skillset in line with the business’s evolving needs. You’ll play a foundational role in shaping company culture and embedding robust financial systems and processes aligned with industry best practice. The position provides exposure to emerging areas including artificial intelligence (AI), environmental, social and governance (ESG) reporting, group consolidation, and international investment and operations. Key Responsibilities
• Oversee daily financial operations, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting
• Manage financial statements, BAS, payroll, and tax compliance
• Review and manage construction contracts, variations, and claims in conjunction with project and commercial teams
• Provide financial insights to support strategic decision-making
• Liaise with external accountants, auditors, and government bodies
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and industry standards
About You/What you will bring
• Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or a related field (CA/CPA qualified or near completion preferred)
• Experience in the construction or related industries highly regarded
• Strong understanding of contract terms and commercial obligations within the construction sector
• Knowledge of Australian taxation, payroll, and compliance requirements
• Proficient in financial systems and ability to embrace change
• Excellent communication, analytical and organisational skills
• A proactive attitude with a collaborative approach to problem-solving
