The Commission leads and coordinates national improvements in healthcare safety and quality. It works in partnership with patients, carers, clinicians, the Australian, state and territory health systems, the private sector, managers and healthcare organisations to achieve a safe, high-quality and sustainable health system.
The Commission’s Measurement for Improvement (MFI) team are seeking to appoint a qualified and experienced person to contribute to its work program.
This role will contribute to the work of the Data Analytics team with a focus on the following program areas:
Development of strategies, standards, and tools to support the measurement, monitoring and reporting of safety and quality in health care.
Incorporation of safety and quality into pricing of public hospital services in Australia – for example, collaboration with the Independent Health and Aged Care Pricing Authority (IHACPA).
Supporting the development and potential operationalisation of national safety and quality measurement improvements by undertaking the required research, consultation, and cross-team collaboration.
Lead the qualitative and research aspects of the work to identify and prioritise clinical domains for Clinical Quality Registry development, along with drafting the final report.
Duties of the Senior Project Officer will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Analyse and interpret a variety of health data, information and literature, including synthesis into a cohesive narrative.
Undertake and support qualitative analysis methods and survey design
Advise on strategy, risk management and stakeholder engagement in relation to the key program areas.
Undertake the complete range of procurement and project and contract management activities.
Develop reports, briefs, advisory group papers, correspondence, presentations and other documents.
Liaise with and foster productive relations with other agencies, clinical organisations, consumer groups, government authorities, the private health sector, industry bodies and contractors.
Consult with and provide advice to colleagues, including Commission executive, about progress of key programs and their strategic implications.
Manage and provide secretariat for advisory groups.
Formulate relevant policy recommendations to the Commission executive.
Contribute to committee meetings, forums and workshops.
Conduct research and analysis on relevant topics, to support work across the program and the Commission.
The successful candidate will have:
Demonstrated understanding of the Australian healthcare system and a sophisticated understanding of the key elements of healthcare safety and quality.
Highly developed conceptual and analytical skills, including demonstrated capacity to analyse and interpret healthcare data and information from a range of sources and synthesise these in a coherent, accessible way.
Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to write well structured reports that draw on different sources of evidence and concisely covey complex topics.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, contracts, and priorities, think strategically and identify and manage risk.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a demonstrated ability to consult, liaise, negotiate, and develop productive working relationships with a wide range of individuals and interest groups.
