About National Trust Queensland & the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary
National Trust of Australia (Queensland) [NTAQ]) is membership-based, environmental charity which offers people the opportunity to feel connected to significant places, collections, and stories. NTAQ manages a diverse portfolio of heritage properties from Currumbin to Cooktown, which includes one of the Gold Coast’s most popular tourist destinations, Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary. As one of Queensland’s earliest nature-based tourist destinations, the Sanctuary is a physical embodiment of everything the NTAQ represents: to conserve and advance our natural and cultural heritage for future generations.

As NTAQ continues to drive both mission-based programs and exceptional guest experiences across our tourism properties, we are seeking an experienced and values-led Finance Manager to lead our Finance team and the end-to-end financial management of NTAQ’s operations. In this critical role, reporting to the CFO, as Financial Manager you play a key role in ensuring organisational sustainability and financial integrity.

About the Role
As our Finance Manager, you will lead a high-performing team of finance professionals, building capability, strengthening internal controls, and contributing to key operational and strategic decisions. You’ll be part of an energetic leadership group driving innovation, accountability, and positive impact aligned with our mission, values, and long-term goals.

This is a hands-on, fast-paced role that oversees the full suite of finance operations, including monthly reporting, budgeting and reforecasting, BAS and FBT lodgements, year-end audits, payroll, and team leadership. Highly organised and detail-focused, you’ll ensure the accurate and timely delivery of all core financial processes while taking a proactive role in risk management, compliance, and financial governance across a dynamic and diverse organisation.

With strong commercial acumen and an innovative mindset, you’ll provide high-quality financial analysis and practical insights to the Executive and Senior Leadership Teams. You’ll also lead or support continuous improvement initiatives—from systems implementation and automation to forecasting, grant reporting, and the development of smarter, more agile reporting tools. Your ability to think strategically and apply practical solutions will help drive sustainable growth and long-term impact.

What sets this role apart is the scale, pace, and diversity of a multi-entity, tourism-focused not-for-profit, offering both challenge and reward for a capable, forward-thinking finance leader.

About You
To be successful in this role, you should have previous experience in a similar finance leadership position, ideally within a fast-paced commercial environment; experience in the not-for-profit sector is highly regarded. We are seeking candidates with the following skills and attributes:

  • Degree in Accounting or extensive equivalent experience in financial management is essential.
  • Proven experience in a senior finance leadership role, demonstrating the ability to manage, coach, and develop high-performing teams.
  • Strong expertise in accounting operations within a commercial environment, with proficiency across finance systems such as payroll, point of sale, inventory, and time and attendance platforms; experience with NetSuite is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated project management skills, with a successful track record of leading and delivering finance-related system improvements and organisational initiatives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and engage respectfully with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and solid general IT literacy.
  • Advanced financial acumen with exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills; capable of prioritising effectively and using initiative to meet deadlines.
  • Alignment with NTAQ’s values and a genuine interest in conservation, cultural heritage, or community impact is considered an advantage

What we can offer
Just as our charter is to protect, conserve, and celebrate the Environmental, Built and Cultural heritage of our State and we also are committed to ensuring our Team Members are protected, taken care of, and of course celebrated! We offer current and future team members:

  • Flexible Work Practices
  • Benchmarked Remuneration & Salary Sacrificing
  • On Site Parking
  • Tertiary Education Partners for access to recognised Qualifications
  • NTAQ Team Member Card offering unlimited entry to Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary and other SEQ sites and generous retail & food & beverage discounts.
  • Fitness Passport Membership
  • Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary Family & Friends Passes
