ABOUT THE ROLE

The Land and Sea Manager holds a key leadership position responsible for overseeing, coordinating and managing all land and sea-based operations. The role ensures services are delivered safely, efficiently, and in a manner that respects and upholds cultural integrity.

This position is firmly grounded in the recognition and integration of Darumbal culture, values and knowledge systems. The Land and Sea Manager will work in close partnership with Traditional Owners, Elders and stakeholders, and the community to ensure that all activities align with cultural protocols, promote environmental stewardship, and enable the respectful and authentic sharing of Darumbal cultural heritage.

The Land and Sea Manager will bring a blend of strong operational leadership and a deep commitment to reconciliation, community engagement, and cultural awareness.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide strategic and operational leadership for all land and sea management activities in alignment with Darumbal Enterprises’ values, policies, and cultural protocols.

Coordinate schedules and ensure timely movement of staff and equipment.

Ensure adequate maintenance and readiness of land vehicles and marine vessels.

Lead, train and motivate land and sea rangers/staff.

Develop work schedules and assign duties.

Ensure all operations comply with local, national and cultural regulations.

Ensure team staff submit regular reports on operations in line with Grant/ Funding Agreement requirements.

Complete reports requested by management.

Educate staff, stakeholders, and the community about the importance of cultural heritage and best practices for its preservation.

Respond to incidents and emergencies with informed leadership.

Maintain accurate records of safety checks, training and incidents.

Support procurement and inventory processes in line with operational needs.

Represent Darumbal Enterprises at meetings, forums, and events related to land and sea management.

Maintain clear communication with Senior Management, Borad of Directors and Stakeholders.

Responsible for maintaining designated portfolio of work in addition to providing supervision and leadership to the team.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum of at least 1-2 years’ experience working in Land and/or Sea Operations with and/or for an Aboriginal Managed Organisation.

Tertiary qualification in Environment Management, Conservation and Land Management, Natural Resource Management or relevant field; or equivalent demonstrated experience in a similar role.

Strong understanding of Indigenous land and sea management practices and their cultural significance.

Excellent project management and stakeholder engagement skills.

Proven success in securing funding and managing budgets for environmental and cultural programs.

Demonstrated commitment to working collaboratively with traditional owners and Indigenous communities.
