We're seeking a dedicated Operations Officer to join our State Land Management team based in Beenleigh. This temporary full-time role will see you working in a small, collaborative team that delivers vital land management activities across Queensland's unallocated State land estate. You will participate in and support a variety of field-based operations, including fire, weed and pest animal management, as well as protecting cultural and natural heritage values. You'll respond to enquiries from the public and stakeholders, lead small field teams, and contribute to planning and implementing land maintenance projects.
In this role, you will deliver a range of field-based activities focused on fire and pest management, including hazard reduction burns and weed control. You'll help develop and implement operational land management plans, engage with local stakeholders and community groups to address land use issues, and contribute valuable input on native title and cultural heritage matters. The role also involves travelling to remote areas, operating field equipment, and supporting compliance monitoring and coordination across internal teams.
What we're looking for:
• A current manual driver's licence and experience driving in remote, off-road conditions.
• Willingness to travel to rural areas for extended periods.
• Experience or interest in fire management, weed control, chainsaw use or land operations.
• A commitment to safety, cultural heritage, and team-based work.
The following qualifications are highly desirable:
• Fire Management Level I accreditation.
• Commercial herbicide application licence (or eligibility).
• Chainsaw operation accreditation (Levels I and II).
• If not already obtained, you'll be supported to achieve relevant accreditations within six months of starting the role.
