Your Position at St John of God Bendigo Hospital
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced professional to lead our Perioperative Services team as the Theatre Technician Team Leader.
In this crucial role, you'll be responsible for supervising all Theatre Technicians, ensuring the team maintains the highest standards of patient care. Your duties will include managing team rosters in collaboration with the Theatre ANUM, overseeing the care and maintenance of all departmental equipment.
You will also play a key role in the professional development of your team, providing guidance, conducting performance appraisals, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
The Position
- Responsible for the supervision of all Theatre Technicians in the Perioperative Services Team.
- Responsible for the Theatre Technician team rostering in collaboration with the Theatre ANUM.
- Responsible for care and maintenance of all equipment in the department.
- Participate in, contribute to and implement quality improvement and risk management into all aspects of service.
- Responsible for the placement of Theatre Technician Students; liaising with the RTO, students and organising their placement whilst on site.
- Overall responsibility for the operating rooms for each surgical and endoscopic procedure, ensuring the necessary furniture, equipment, appliances and supplies are at hand and working efficiently.
- Ensure monitoring equipment is correctly positioned and set for the anticipated surgery and be available to trouble shoot technical problems related to same, or to source assistance if required.
- Assist in safe transfer of patients to and from the Wards to Holding Bays and to Theatres and correct positioning of patients to and from the theatre table.

You will hold a Certificate IV in Operating Theatre Technician Support along with extensive experience working in all areas of the operating suite and a comprehensive knowledge of the clinical specialities offered at the hospital.
To succeed in this role, you will require a sound understanding of legislation and standards related to Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S), compliance matters, and WorkCover requirements. You will also possess effective communication skills, demonstrating sensitivity, empathy, and respect in all interactions. Strong organisational skills and the ability to effectively prioritise tasks in a busy environment is essential.

- Permanent part time position, working up to 64 hours a fortnight.
