The Opportunity: Facility Assistant Technician

You’ll be the right hand to the Facility Supervisor, keeping a high-spec, tightly controlled facility running like clockwork. This isn’t your average building—you’ll work with precision systems that keep the integrity of medicine and scientific products maintained in this facility. 12 month fixed term contract (assessed for extension at the end).

Perfect for someone technical, organised, and hands-on, this role involves routine checks, vendor coordination, and oversight of critical systems including temperature control, alarms, ventilation, and electrical infrastructure. If you like being a handy man and staying on top of systems, you’ll thrive here.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Coordinating external maintenance providers on-site
• Running and reporting on tests: temperature, power, air flow, alarms
• Conducting scheduled compliance and safety checks
• Logging and managing reports, issues, and service requests
• Looking after lighting, locks, fittings, and inventory
• Managing spare parts on site or inventory needs
• Participating in holding the on-call phone (fortnightly) with generous compensation
• Lifting or moving items up to 20kg (PPE provided for cold storage areas)

What We’re Looking For:

You’ve got technical skills and are capable hands on and love a good system. Whether you’ve worked in a role with some technical prowess, studied engineering, worked in facilities or maintenance, or have a knack for AV tech or electrical systems—this role offers a chance to sharpen your skills in a career moving environment.

You’ll Need:

• Hands-on technical experience (professional or personal)
• Background in trades, engineering, AV, maintenance or anything related
• Strong problem-solving and organisational skills
• Excellent communication (written and verbal)
• Confidence working in facility or lab-type environments
• Willingness to occasionally step inside of cold rooms (they’ll kit you out)
• A positive, can-do attitude and reliable work ethic
• This is a 12 month fixed term contract that could transition ongoing after
