The National Australia Day Council (NADC) actively promotes our national day to all Australians with a view to inspiring national pride and increasing participation and engagement across all sectors of the community.

Uniquely structured as a national body and a Commonwealth-owned company, limited by guarantee, the NADC leads and works collaboratively with the Australia Day National Network (Network) in states and territories to provide all Australians with an opportunity to ‘Reflect. Respect. Celebrate.’ on Australia Day and recognise inspirational Australians through the Australian of the Year Awards. The NADC, through their program of events and activities, inspires national pride and spirit to enrich the nation. They do all this with a lean team of high-performing professionals who are passionate about what they do and how they do it.

The role?
You will be working in external communications and responsible for the strategy development and execution of year-round content for various communications channels. Your role will include preparation of press releases, publications, website content, social media, speech writing and newsletter coordination; as well as media management and communications and key messaging development. As an experienced Communications leader, you know the work, and now you get to do it for some really exciting and profound content and individuals!

Who we are looking for!
You are a confident communicator and enjoy dealing with multiple stakeholders. You are quick to read the tone of the organisation you represent and create communications content in that voice. You love to pitch in, and you are a passionate team member whose ultimate goal is to work with your executives to get the right message across.

You manage your work and your professional relationships with highly developed emotional intelligence and empathy while demonstrating a strong values alignment to the ongoing work of this great organisation. You are comfortable working autonomously but can also pitch in on team projects and collaborate when needed.

Your mix of skills and experience can come from a range of backgrounds, with varied experience across sectors highly regarded. You are agile enough to easily switch between operational and strategic functions and you will have a strong track record in the development of positive and productive working relationships.

The reality of working with NADC.
When the rest of the nation might be winding down and putting their feet up at year’s end, the team at NADC are moving into their busiest time of year. After helping to bring our nation together and uplifting the community in January, you’ll will be rewarded with additional leave days and have plenty of time for those long holidays.

You will work in the fabulous setting of Old Parliament House in a combination of in-office and working from home arrangements. Working with this impressive leadership team will expose you to some of the best in the business. They have energy and passion; they can’t wait to share that with you.

What next?
This role is available now! So, what are you waiting for?

Please apply now by uploading your CV and a cover letter demonstrating why you are the perfect fit for this opportunity. Skills are important, but cultural and values alignment to the work of the NADC is critical! Are you ready to make your mark?
