Ready to lead from the front and deliver world-class ocean events?
The Shaw and Partners World Ocean Series is looking for a hands-on, detail-driven Event Operations & Logistics Manager to take the reins on our physical event delivery — from warehouse prep to beach setups and everything in between.
This is a boots-on-the-ground role for someone who doesn’t just manage logistics, but lives and breathes them. You’ll play a key part in making sure our event series punches well above its weight, by helping create clean, professional, high-impact setups across five major live events, plus admin and logistics support for some smaller ones.
About the Role
This is a physical, practical, and leadership-heavy role — but also requires coordination and planning skills. You’ll be responsible for:
Pre-Event (Warehouse + Planning):
Prepping, testing, and repairing event gear — audio systems, signage, marquees, beach flags, staging, etc.
Ensuring packing lists are lean, accurate, and everything is clearly labelled for each zone
Working from a clean, organised warehouse so nothing gets missed or duplicated
Coordinating infrastructure, vehicle logistics, AV equipment, and activation gear
Helping recruit and coordinate event officials, water safety, and volunteers (training and systems provided)
Event Weeks (On-Site):
First to arrive, last to leave – responsible for bump-in leadership and bump-out organisation
Managing a small crew (staff, volunteers, or casuals) and making sure every part of the beach looks tight and runs on time
Leading on infrastructure setup: athlete check-in, back-of-beach areas, sponsor activations, race zones, and crowd areas
Ensuring everything packs down cleanly, is labeled, and ready to go again next event
Post-Event:
Resetting and restocking gear, flagging issues, and keeping infrastructure ready for the next stop
Reporting and working with the Event Manager to improve efficiencies
What You’ll Need
Experience in event operations, logistics, or site management
A high level of attention to detail, especially around timing, equipment quality, and presentation
The ability to lead a team and keep everyone focused during busy bump-ins/outs
Confidence juggling spreadsheets and sign-off sheets alongside physical setup
A willingness to jump in physically – loading gear, setting up marquees, troubleshooting AV, etc.
Bonus Points For:
Forklift or truck license
Experience with surf sports, AV tech, event infrastructure, or live productions
Strong communication and problem-solving skills under pressure
Competence with Google Sheets or Excel
The Details:
Contract: Early August 2025 to late February 2026
Average 38 hours/week across the contract — ramping up during event weeks, with time in lieu or scaled-back weeks after.
Location: Based on the Gold Coast with travel to 4 major beach events (Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast & NSW)
Pay: Based on experience
This role suits someone who wants ownership and pride in their work.
If you like the idea of being at the centre of a nationally broadcast sporting series, and making sure everything looks world-class — we’d love to hear from you.
