The Role Overview
As we implement our ambitious new strategic plan, we’re seeking a motivated, empathetic and confident Community Engagement Officer to join our Community Programs team to increase our engagement, support and awareness in the Mallee.
This vital role is ideal for a passionate self-starter looking to make a difference in a purpose-led team. The Community Engagement Officer is responsible for coordination, planning and implementation of all community engagement activities in the Mallee, including:
· Brand awareness activities
· Volunteer recruitment
· Support activities and;
· General engagement.
The role has a strong community focus and the coordinator will be responsible for partnering with local organisations to build relationships, identify and respond to engagement activities.
You must be experienced in community engagement and establishing connections with a diverse range of stakeholders including local emergency response teams, fire and flood management, law enforcement agencies, local government authorities and community organisations.
The Community Engagement Officer will be required to maintain an inventory of all resources, including supplies, and equipment, to ensure their availability in times of need. They will work closely with the Community Project Coordinator, Sunraysia Volunteer Coordinator and existing volunteers. Strong logistical management and organisational skills are a must.
The role will require collection and analysis of data to measure the impact of engagement activities and inform future initiatives, including development of reporting to funding partners.
Key Responsibilities
Undertake brand awareness, marketing and promotion activities to build greater awareness for LLM in the Mallee, our services, resources and support available.
Identify opportunities to engage with community that align with the organisation’s strategy.
Coordinate marketing and logistics to deliver community engagement.
Work with the Sunraysia Volunteer and Services Coordinators to achieve business outcomes for the Mallee.
Undertake actions to promote the work LLM do and opportunities to volunteer with LLM.
Managing the administration, planning, coordination, logistics and delivery of Lifeline Loddon Mallee’s community outreach.
Coordinate & Deliver a range of community engagement activities, including, actively recruit for 13 11 14 crisis support volunteers.
Key Selection Criteria
Essential:
Tertiary qualification in Community Development, Social Work or another relevant field OR a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
Demonstrated, well developed interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal, including public speaking, presenting to media and stakeholder engagement.
Demonstrated knowledge of community engagement activities and experience in implementing community-based programs, including providing a safe and inclusive space for all.
A strong understanding of the impacts of family violence, mental health distress, crisis and suicide.
Strong administration skills, managing logistical elements, data entry competency using technology (including proficient use of Microsoft Office)
Demonstrated ability to take initiative, set priorities, monitor workflow, follow direction, maintain deadlines whilst working autonomously.
Knowledge and understanding of the Mallee area and surrounding communities. Existing networks/connections and demonstrated relationship building skills within this community would be desirable.
