About the Opportunity
Puntukurnu Aboriginal Medical Service (PAMS) is seeking a committed and culturally responsive FDV Project Officer to join our Family, Domestic and Sexual Violence (FDSV) team. This new role is part of the Beyond Mental Health project and will play a vital role in supporting individuals and families affected by violence using trauma-informed and healing-centered approaches.
Based in Newman, with travel to our remote communities (Jigalong, Parnngurr, Punmu and Kunawarritji), you will coordinate culturally grounded mental health and family violence programs and deliver impactful community engagement activities, working closely with Martu families and local stakeholders.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related discipline.
Eligibility for registration with AASW or a relevant professional body.
Mental Health Social Worker accreditation (or eligibility).
Experience delivering FDSV services, including counselling, case management, and advocacy.
Knowledge of trauma-informed and strengths-based practices within Indigenous communities.
Experience working in remote Aboriginal communities.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to work cross-culturally.
Capacity to mentor Aboriginal staff and support culturally safe practice.
Ability to travel regularly and work flexibly in remote environments.
Desirable:
Knowledge of Martu culture and/or language.
Prior work in an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (ACCHO).
Familiarity with state and federal FDSV frameworks.
Experience with case management platforms (e.g., Communicare, MMEx).

Salary: $116,378.00 – $136,145.80 p.a. + super
