About the opportunities
The Governance, Risk and Business Improvement Directorate comprises five Branches that have responsibility for leading Corporate Governance, Risk Management, Business Improvement, Project Management Office and Change Management Office for the agency. This agile team delivers high quality transformative projects and supports leadership across the department to uplift agency capability and performance. We are seeking experienced leaders who successfully build and maintain effective working relationships and deliver high quality, future focussed results.
We currently have three vacancies available for permanent filling, with access to flexible working arrangements:
Level 7: Principal Consultant Project Management Office
Level 7: Principal Consultant Strategic Risk
Level 6: Senior Consultant Project Management Office
Level 7: Principal Consultant Project Management Office
You will provide strategic oversight and support for major projects and change initiatives across the department. This includes regular reporting on performance, progress and risk management of major programs and projects to the Corporate Executive, offering high-level project management advice and expertise to project leaders, and ensuring projects are aligned with strategic objectives and delivered effectively. To achieve this you will lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the department’s project management framework, including project management methodologies, tools, documentation, and training resources. Additionally, you will be leading and managing the day-to-day operations of the Project Management Office team, ensuring a coordinated, consistent, and high-quality approach to project delivery across the department.
Level 7: Principal Consultant Strategic Risk
The role will provide leadership and high-level strategic advice and expertise in the development, implementation, and ongoing review of the department’s strategic risk management framework, including supporting policies and procedures. You will play a key role in enhancing the department’s ability to effectively manage risk and achieve its strategic objectives. You will also lead the development, maintenance, and testing of business continuity plans. Additionally, the role will contribute to the governance framework by helping define roles, responsibilities, practices, and policies that support strategic direction, enable effective decision-making, manage risks, and safeguard business continuity.
Level 6: Senior Consultant Project Management Office
The role supports the project management office by providing consultancy, guidance, and mentoring to project practitioners and key stakeholders across the Department. You will be fostering a project management culture focused on continuous improvement and repeatable project success. You will also contribute to the development, implementation, and review of the department’s project management framework, ensuring it remains relevant and effective. You will proactively identify and drive pragmatic improvements to project management methods, tools, and processes, helping to embed best practices and support cultural change across the organisation.
We are looking for individuals with:
Demonstrated extensive experience in prioritising and managing complex projects in a medium to large multi-disciplinary organisation (Level 7:Principal Consultant Project Management Office).
Demonstrated extensive knowledge and a proven performance history in strategic and operational risk management and business continuity planning (Level 7: Principal Consultant Strategic Risk).
Considerable knowledge and experience of project management methodologies, governance and compliance (Level 6: Senior Consultant Project Management Office).
Demonstrated leadership skills in building and nurturing collaborative relationships, fostering teamwork and engagement across teams and stakeholders.
