Founded in 1997 by Keith and Ali Hentschke, Hentley Farm is one of Australia's leading luxury wine producers. Located at our Seppeltsfield Vineyard in the scenic Barossa Valley we have a stunning cellar door and one of Australia's finest restaurants. Our vineyard is one of the most awarded vineyards in Australia across the last decade and is home to our small batch winery, bottling line and offices.

We are seeking a passionate and talented Senior Sous Chef to join our award winning Restaurant team reporting to our Executive Chef, Kyle Johns. Set on the banks of Greenock Creek, our restaurant delivers a refined degustation experience that reflects the essence of our estate. We are seeking a dedicated and driven professional, someone who excels in high-performance environments and is passionate about cultivating meaningful connections with both our team and guests. Our Restaurant is open for a lunchtime roster (wed-sun) , including school holidays, and special events, as required.

Key focus of the Senior Sous Chef position:

Support the leadership of our kitchen team in delivering a consistently exceptional and commercially successful dining experience that aligns with the restaurant’s vision and values.

Partner with the Executive Chef to conceptualise and evolve menus, ensuring excellence in flavour, consistency, and presentation.

Mentor and train new kitchen team members while fostering the ongoing development of existing staff through hands-on guidance and professional growth opportunities.

Ensure full compliance with all health, safety, and hygiene regulations, maintaining the highest standards across all kitchen operations;

Collaborate closely with the Executive Chef to drive the ongoing success of both the culinary team, the front of house team and the Hentley Farm site.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Formal chef trade qualifications (essential);

Minimum of two years’ experience as a Junior Sous or Sous Chef within a fine dining, premium, or hatted restaurant environment (essential);

A genuine commitment to leadership—supporting, mentoring, and developing a focused, high-performing culinary team;

A strong team player who enjoys working as part of a dynamic team.
