What you’ll be doing:
- Identifying and pursuing new business opportunities across key commercial sectors including education, aged care, local government, and property management.
- Developing and implementing a strategic business development plan aligned with ABA’s growth targets.
- Researching market trends and competitor activity to inform strategy and identify untapped opportunities.
- Building and maintaining excellent working relationships with your customer base.
- Successfully managing the end-to-end tendering and quoting process, including preparation of proposals.
- Following up on leads and referrals, ensuring a structured approach to pipeline conversion.
- Attending industry events, networking functions, and trade expos to raise brand visibility and create connection opportunities.
- Collaborating closely with internal operations and service teams to ensure seamless onboarding and delivery for new clients.
- Regularly reporting on business development activity, pipeline health, and sales performance.
- Maintaining accurate CRM records, contact lists, and client notes to support long-term relationship management.
- Contributing to the development of marketing campaigns and sales collateral to support client engagement.
- Ensuring all client acquisition processes align with ABA’s compliance, WHS, and quality standards.
What you’ll bring:
- A strong existing customer network ideally across Public/Private Schools, Aged Care Operators, Local Councils or State Departments, and Commercial Property/Facility Management would be highly regarded.
- Strong demonstrated experience in business development, across multi-trade or service-based environments would be advantageous.
- Background or exposure to Plumbing, HVAC, Electrical, or Construction industry preferred.
- Demonstrated understanding of compliance, WHS, contract negotiation and tendering processes.
- Familiarity with CRMs, quoting software, and project delivery processes.
- Natural relationship building skills – you’re genuine, personable, and know how to build trust quickly!
- Strong communication and presentation abilities, with the confidence to engage with all stakeholders at all levels.
- A commercial mindset – you can spot opportunities, understand business drivers, and articulate value clearly.
- A self-starter, who is proactive, organised, and able to manage time and priorities effectively.
- Strong problem-solving and solutions focussed mindset.
- Professionalism and credibility – you represent the ABA Trades brand with integrity.
- Ability to work collaboratively and be a strong team player across key departments ensuring service delivery aligns with client expectations.
- Accountability and follow-through, and a desire to take ownership of your pipeline.
- Current driver’s license and ability to travel across SA for meetings and site visits.
